Doing the hair of a constantly wiggly toddler is not an easy task, but I decided to attempt braiding Kyra's hair this morning. For my first time, and considering that she was moving around throughout the entire process, I think I did a fairly decent job. With a little practice, I think this will be an adorable new hairstyle for Kyra! Her hair just keeps growing and growing!
How long until this neatly brushed hair is scrunched and flying all over the place?
This face says, "Mommy, why must you photograph every moment of my life? My first braid? Really?"
Kyra and I went to the little park a block away from Maka and Papa's house this afternoon. Kyra does an amazing job of climbing up a short later, then pulls herself up onto a metal bar to get to the steps that lead to the big, curvy slide. Today she kept coming down the slide, then running back around to the other side of the play structure to climb up and do it again and again and again!
Kyra loves our kitty cats, but seems especially fond of Bella. She loves petting her and trying to cuddle up to her. Bella is surprisingly tolerant and actually seems to like it when Kyra pets her. But sooner or later, Kyra gets a bit too excited and giggly, and squeals at such a high pitch that Bella runs away. But Kyra chases right after her. Or Kyra goes looking for her, yelling "Bella, whatchyu doin?" We've been trying to catch a photo of Kyra giving Bella little nose kisses, but those two are rarely in one place long enough to get the camera.
Kyra and I went to our Mommy & Me dance class today. Including today's class, we only have a few left before Mrs. Sarah goes on maternity leave (and before we hopefully progress in our move to Mission Viejo. Ugh!). As usual, Kyra had a great time and was such a little ham for the camera. She moves around so fast that it's hard to capture photos, but I got what I could. Storytime: The Very Hungry Caterpillar (one of Kyra's favorites!)
Doing a bit of floor work
Running around like a crazy girl during the ribbon "freeze dance"
A few huggies for Momma!
Kyra wanted to take the camera. Next time maybe I'll let her. It's only a matter of time before this kiddo gets her own camera!
Posing with Mrs. Sarah
Playing at the park after class
"Mommy! I see trees and grass and class and park!!!"
Kyra and Mommy went back to the Aquarium this week for another visit with the penguins. This time around, the penguins were swimming all over the place, but weren't very interested in posing for pictures on the little ledge where kids can walk/crawl underneath.
Kyra finally let me prop her up to see the sting rays in the touch pool. She put her fingers in the water and actually let one sting ray get pretty close to her hand, but I don't think she actually touched it. Kyra remembered the big sea turtle that we saw on our last visit and wanted to go back to the tunnel to find it again. At first we didn't see it, but soon found it hiding. It came out briefly, and Kyra probably could've sat there all day watching it!
Mom's attempt at getting Kyra to look at the camera and pose next to the turtle...Oh well, we'll keep trying.
