Nearly 7 Weeks Already!

Hello again!

On Thursday, Kyra will be 7 weeks old. It's beginning to feel like she's always been here, which I suppose means that I'm beginning to adjust to Mommyhood. I posted some pictures above, which I took of Kyra yesterday. I'm hoping to take pictures of her on a regular basis, since she's growing and changing so quickly.

Kyra's been smiling a lot lately, although I have yet to get a picture of any of those big, beautiful smiles. She's been spending much of the daytime awake and alert. She likes looking at the toys that hang down from her swing and bouncy chair. She seems like she wants to reach out and grab them sometimes, but she's not quite able to do that just yet. She loves to kick her legs and move her arms, and she even likes to "stand" with some help from Mommy and Daddy.

She's already grown so much - her newborn clothes are pretty snug, but I'm still putting some items on her while I have the chance...But some larger-sized pieces have managed to find their way into her wardrobe. I can already tell that it'll make me sad to pack up her newborn clothes and put them in storage once she's truly outgrown them. How can my little girl be so big already!? I might have to put some of my favorite newborn clothes on to her stuffed animals just to keep them around a little longer!

We've been trying to get out of the house with her more. A couple days ago, she took her first trip to Chipotle (one of our favorite places), and yesterday she went to Pinkberry and took a stroller walk up and down Abbot Kinney Blvd. in Venice. Today, we walked to Target and the food court at the mall. We picked up a few cute summer dresses for her - I can no longer set foot in Target without walking through the baby and kids sections!

We're also working on charting out a daily routine, although that's still definitely a work in progress. Her sleep patterns are still changing, but we've been lucky in that she usually goes to sleep between 7-8pm, and then only gets up for one nighttime feeding sometime around 3-4am. She recently set a new sleep record - 9 straight hours! So Mommy and Daddy have been getting some pretty good sleep! When she's 8 weeks old we'll start her actual sleep training, during which we'll work on eliminating the nighttime feeding. Wish us luck!

Kyra's 6 Weeks Old!! (I owe you an update!)

Hi all,

I've been a bit busy lately and haven't had much time to update the blog. Sorry about that! I'll try to post some new photos soon. Kyra had newborn photos taken last weekend, so I'm looking forward to seeing how those come out. I'm sure there will be some cute ones!

Kyra is officially 6 weeks old today! Time seems to be flying by. She's doing great, and is already growing so much. She's learning how to hold her head up on her own, and loves to look around at things. We're getting more and more smiles lately, which are always so cute! She loves getting a bath, and even seems to like having water on her face. We're trying to get her ready for swimming with Daddy soon, so we always spray a little water on her face so that she can get used to it. She's going to be a little water baby! She's also been a good little sleeper - her current sleep record was set 2 nights ago, when she slept nearly 8 straight hours! Of course, her amount of sleep still seems to be changing, up and down every night. But hopefully this is a good indicator that she'll sleep through the night soon!

Congratulations to Shaunna and Zac, who welcomed baby Natasha Olivia Larson into the world yesterday! We're very excited to go meet her today! I didn't even get a chance to post baby shower photos before she arrived!

Kyra's 1-Month Birthday!

Kyra turned 1 month old today (Thursday)! It's amazing how fast her first month went by! It seems like just yesterday that we were bringing her home the hospital. We took her to the doctor today for her 1-month check-up, and she now weighs 9 lbs. 1.5 oz. and is 22 inches (she was 7 lbs. and 20.5 inches at birth). Our tiny girl is already growing up so fast! And to show us how mature she's getting, she actually slept a little over 6 straight hours last night! That's definitely a record! So she's hopefully on her way to learning how to sleep through the night. She's spending more time awake during the day but, luckily for her sometimes tired Mommy, she still likes to take naps! During one of her awake moments last week, I managed to snap the photos posted above. I was hoping to get some more this week, but just haven't had a chance. Once she's on a more predictable schedule (she's been changing things up on me day to day lately!), I'm hoping to do weekly photos with her!

This Saturday is Shaunna's baby shower! And that means that baby Natasha's arrival is right around the corner! We all can't wait to meet her! If any of you are attending the shower and are hoping to meet Kyra, she will be making an appearance toward the end of the event.

Well, Kyra's waking up from her nap, so that's my cue to wrap this post up!

Until next time...

Kyra Meets Her Aunt Jen & Cousins!

Kyra finally met her Aunt Jen and her cousins Mia, Maddie, and Izzy last weekend! I'm sharing a few photos here that Jen put together and posted on her blog recently (check out the link on the right for "Mimi Bella Boo"). These pics are so cute, so I just couldn't resist posting them! Jen also took a bunch of pictures of Kyra, which I can't wait to see! Glancing at a few of them on her camera, they looked so adorable! So hopefully there will be some cute ones that I can use for Kyra's baby announcements! We had a great visit with the cousins, who were excited to hold Kyra. Izzy seems very anxious for Kyra to get a little older so that they can truly play together!

We're beginning to adjust to having Kyra, and we're learning to function on her time table. It's been a little cold and rainy here lately, but we've managed to get out for a few walks around the park with Kyra. The days can seem a bit monotonous, filled with nursing/feedings and not much time to actually rest or get things done. But I'm sure the time will keep flying by and, before we know it, we'll be looking back and wondering where these early days went! But I don't think we'll miss the nighttime feedings! We're planning to start sleep training when Kyra is around 6-8 weeks old, and she's already almost 3 weeks old now!

We're excitedly awaiting the arrival of Kyra's best friend, Natasha Olivia Larson. Shaunna is due to give birth on April 6th, but she could very well deliver this month! But let's just hope that Shaunna gets to comfortably enjoy her baby shower first, which is coming up in a couple weeks. But I can't wait for these babies to meet and start becoming best friends!

On that note, Kyra's waking up from her nap and it's time for me to go nurse her yet again!
