Playing at the "@" at the Mall

Kyra loves playing in the "@" symbol at our mall's "Punctuation Station" play area. It is made up of a bunch of different punctuation marks that kids can play on. It's the perfect place for her to cruise around. She can move around easily and there's always something within an arms reach for her to hold on to. It's also off to the side, so the bigger kids tend to avoid it. Grandma and Grandpa take Kyra there every Friday, and she gets excited whenever she's sitting in her stroller and sees it up ahead. Today, Geoff and Kyra were playing, with Geoff playfully throwing Kyra up in the air. She loves this fun activity with her Daddy! Geoff asked her if she wanted more throwing up in the air, and she signed "more"! It was a very proud moment for both of us! Now, if she would just sign "more" during meals, that would be fantastic!

Near the "Punctuation Station" is a kiosk that sells small moving animal toys and things that light up and make noise. Kyra's Grandparents often take her over there to see the little doggy that walks along the floor, and other mobile toys. Today, while looking at the doggy, the saleswoman who runs the kiosk looked at Kyra and said, "Where's Grandma and Grandpa today?" It's so funny how much Kyra gets recognized throughout the mall and our neighborhood - checkers at Qdoba, Sprouts, Target, and Old Navy often say hello and ask her how she's doing. She's a popular little girl!

Some Daddy-Daughter Cuteness!

Just when I think that I couldn't possibly love these two more than I already do, they go and do something so cute and adorable right before my very eyes! While walking around after lunch today, they held hands for quite a while. Seriously, could they be any cuter? Thank goodness for my new, fast cell phone with an excellent 8 mexapixel camera!

Fun With A Mirror, A New Chair, & Kyra's 1st Sign!

Giving herself a kiss in the mirror!
Kyra got a fancy new chair as an early Birthday present! Thanks Grandma & Grandpa! She loves sitting in it to watch her Baby Signing Time videos.
Kyra loves looking in the mirror. She thinks it's hilarious! Every time she sees herself, she gets all giggly and smiley. She also likes to give herself kisses in the mirror. It's pretty cute to see!

Kyra got an early Birthday present recently. Grandma and Grandpa got Kyra this adorable faux leather chair, which she has happily been enjoying in our living room. She still needs help climbing up into the chair, but she's figured out how to take little leaps to get down and out of the chair.

She loves to sit in her chair to watch her Baby Signing Time DVDs. After a few months of watching her signing videos, she finally gave us her first sign a few days ago. While watching the "Strollin" segment of one of the DVDs, which deals with all of the various things a baby might see while outside on a stroller walk, Kyra very clearly signed "grass" during the "grass" part. It was the most amazing thing we've ever seen! And today, while Geoff was signing "Thank You" to Kyra after her breakfast, she copied him and signed "Thank You" right back at him.

It's been so fascinating to watch her learn. She's understanding so much more lately! We ask to her find various toys and she quickly looks at them, points at them, and/or picks them up. She loves to mimic our movements too. She's getting smarter and smarter each day! She's cruising around like crazy lately and her speed is picking up, but still no unassisted walking yet. There's no rush on that, as far as I'm concerned!

Less than a month until Kyra's first Birthday. Numerous times throughout the day, I find myself wondering how her first year could've flown by so fast. It feels like her newborn days were over so quickly. I wish I could memorize every little moment, but unfortunately they fly by in the blink of an eye. We're having so much fun with our little girl, and she continues to amaze us everyday.

Playdate With Natasha!

Cuddlebug!
Last weekend, while spending some time at Grandma and Grandpa's house, Kyra had a very special playdate with Natasha Larson. The girls had a lot of fun playing together. Kyra managed to share some toys, although she was also quite interested in snatching toys out of Natasha's hands. Natasha didn't seem to mind too much though. Both girls are now crawling, so it was really cute to watch them move around. It was so much fun to watch them playing together, and it'll be so great to watch them grow up together!
