Kyra's 1st Solid Food - Rice Cereal!

Okay, I know I said recently that Kyra wasn't going to be starting solid foods until she reaches 6 months old. But after a few weeks of her waking up really, really early in the morning, crying until we'd give her a bottle, Kyra's pediatrician agreed that she might be ready for rice cereal. So Kyra had her first solid meal of rice cereal a couple of days ago, and she LOVED it! She was crying at first, but instantly changed her tune after I put the first spoonful in her mouth. The rice cereal hasn't really helped Kyra's sleeping yet, but we're hoping she'll get used to it soon and will once again sleep through the night. As you can see from the photos, she's seriously cute when she eats! Her rice cereal dinner has become an exciting addition to our daily routine!

1st Father's Day!

While we were on vacation in La Jolla, Geoff and Kyra celebrated their first Father's Day together. Kyra surprised her Daddy with matching shirts - "Papa Bear" for Geoff, and "Baby Bear" for Kyra. I thought these were especially cute, since we like to call Kyra "Kyra Bear" or "Kiki Bear." It was a very happy first Father's Day for our little family!

Kyra's 1st Vacation!

I know a blog update is a bit overdue. Lots to update you on, so I'll try to get caught up!

Kyra went on her first vacation! We went to La Jolla for a few days last week, and we all had a great time! Kyra had her own room, while Mommy and Daddy slept on the pull-out couch in the living room. We had a great view of the cove and some gorgeous sunsets. Kyra enjoyed some lovely walks around La Jolla Cove, as well as some beach time and pool time. Our car was packed full...but it's a good thing we over-packed. It's a long story, but we've had some unexpected work going on at our house, so we've been staying with Kyra's Grandparents ever since the end of our vacation. We hope to be home soon, but at least Kyra decided to pack plenty of clothing and diapers and blankets and everything else that she could ever possibly need!

That's How I Roll

Kyra learned how to roll today! 3 times today, Kyra rolled from her tummy to her back. Enjoy the footage of roll #2! After the 1st roll, she burst into tears - I think she startled herself and didn't really know how she ended up on her back! The 2nd time, as you'll see, she looks more stunned than anything else. She did so much better with tummy time today!

She got a little fussy after rolling, so Kyra had some fun playtime with her Sophie Giraffe while seated in her Bumbo seat. Kyra has been getting better and better at reaching for and grasping onto her toys. She really seemed to enjoy playing with Sophie today!

Oh my goodness, could she be any cuter!!???!!!

Rolling Over!!!

Kyra has officially rolled over, from her tummy to her back, all by herself! Video proof of roll #2 is coming soon, once Kyra's Daddy has a chance to see it for himself!

4-Month Check-Up

Kyra had her 4-month check-up today, and she's doing great! How is it possible that Kyra will be 4 months old on Friday? Our tiny baby girl is now weighing 14 pounds 12 ounces (that's just over twice her birth weight of 7 pounds!), measures 25 inches in length, and has a head circumference of 40.5 centimeters. She's gotten so big! She's doing wonderfully on 4-month milestones, but needs to spend more time on her tummy to learn how to roll over. She's getting better with tummy time, but still doesn't enjoy it for more than a couple minutes. She got her next round of shots, and only cried for a minute or two! Kyra will start solid foods at 6 months, and I'm sure she'll seem like such a big girl when that happens!

Last weekend, we went to the Santa Monica High School softball CIF championship game in Irvine, and the girls won! While Geoff watched the game, I only had eyes for Kyra - she's my daily entertainment! We set up her little play tent for her to rest in, and she also had a fun time playing with her Grandma and Grandpa.

Grandpa was playing with Kyra last Friday, and was entertained by her "Auto Wipe Feature" - she drools quite a bit, but she's happy to help dab her own face if you put a burp cloth in her hand. Actually, she's just trying to shove things in her mouth, but a burp cloth toward her mouth is rather purposeful! Here's a fun little video to watch her in action!

Some More Firsts!

Kyra went swimming for the first time last weekend! It took her a few minutes to adjust, but she really enjoyed herself! Here are some fun photos!

We also went to the LA Zoo for the first time last week! Kyra enjoyed her playdate with her buddy Jake (pictured), as well as twins Dylan and Kyra (another Kyra, not pictured - we'll have to get some photos next time)!
A photo of Kyra with a gorilla in the background, to prove that she actually went to the zoo!

Kyra also enjoyed her first Memorial Day get together at her Grandma Linda's pool! She got to swim again, play with her cousins, and spend some quality time with her BFF, Natasha.
